Bill Tilman, renowned explorer and mountaineer was not exaggerating when he wrote, “One of the world’s most beautiful valley”; referring to the astounding panorama of mountain ranges, lush green valleys, dense fir and rhododendrons forests inhabiting world’s rarest flora and fauna, that are indigenous to this region.

Although being relatively less strenuous, this trek offers a distinct and rewarding experience to those who dwell through this diverse landscape. Also the fact that this trek is less crowded than popular Annapurna Circuit Trek and Everest Region Trek, while offering similar if not more in terms of natural beauty, cultural heritage and warm hospitality!

Langtang valley lies in central Nepal, almost 30 km north of Kathmandu Valley, the capital of Nepal. ‘Lang’ is Tibetan for lama and ‘Tang’ means follow, so this name is derived from a belief that this place was discovered in ancient times by a Tibetan lama, a follower and teacher of locally practiced Tibetan Buddhism. The influence of Buddhism is quite evident when one passes through the local houses, with traditional architecture unique to this place and numerous Buddhist monasteries(Gompas) that embellish the beauty of these villages.

It is advised that spring and autumn season is the best time to travel this region. The feeling of joy when one is walking through the dense rhododendrons forest, with almost every trees flowering, is something of a natural miracle, a treat to the eyes and an inexplicable tonic to human soul, a reminder that happiness sometimes grows out of trees, in form of these selfless blooming flowers that shower their own tender petals for the visitor of their land.

Langtang valley trek is one of the most famous trekking route of Nepal and connects various trekking routes, Langtang-Helambu, Langtang-Gosaikunda-Chisapani. as well as Tamang Heritage trail.
