Everest Helicopter Tour is designed for those who want to explore more of the Khumbu region in short period of time without missing out on the amazing sights that this region has to offer. As this tour entails relatively less trekking hours compared to other Everest region treks, the difficulty level of this trek is easy to moderate.
This unique tour promises you an unique experience that encapsulates the combination of perspectives from the ground as well as aerial one. You will be hiking on foot for less than 12 hours in two day period, which will let you experience the local culture and norms, warm hospitality of Sherpa people and the monumental mountains that are standing all around you.
Like most of the trekking Everest region offers, our journey starts from Kathmandu valley. We take a short but exciting flight to Lukla, the mountainous airstrip at 2850m which is quite notorious for its short length and unpredictable weather.
We hike up to Phakding along the Sunkoshi river, whereupon we rest for a the night. After a decent rest, we will ascend to Namche bazar, popularly termed as gateway to Everest and acclimatize there. We start our journey quite early given the time constraints and after sightseeing, we get onboard the helicopter for a fantastic ride towards Kala Patthar (17192 ft/5242m). From that vantage point, we can see awe inspiring views of mountains as well as aerial view of pristine Gokyo Lakes.
As it is well known, we get the closest views of the tallest mountains in the world from Kala Patthar. The perk of doing a heli trip close to the mountains is that, it provides one with a unique aerial view that is not possible from ground and minus the strenuous hike for days to head back to Lukla. We then take the heli back to Lukla airport and get on the connecting flight to Kathmandu.
